The game

YearLens is a browser game published by AFKGame. Each game has five historical photographs. You guess a year and a location; the closer your guesses are to the reference answers, the more points you earn. The playing guide explains scoring, timers and controls.

The current game bank contains 30 photographs, so images can repeat. A dated Daily challenge uses the same selection for its date. Daily allowances follow UTC and unused games do not accumulate.

Guests and free accounts have three free random, collection or challenge games per UTC day. The Daily and the accessible archive are separate from that allowance. Free archive access includes dates up to seven days before today. Other free limits, including room capacity, saved games and custom collections, are shown in the relevant feature and on the Premium page.

Accounts and fair play

An account is optional for guest play and required for account history and online features. Use an email address you control, confirm it when requested and keep your sign-in details private. You are responsible for activity under your account.

Play fairly. Do not automate gameplay to manipulate rankings, bypass allowances, interfere with rooms or overload the service. We may remove abusive scores or restrict access to protect the game and other players.

Your display name and ranked results can be visible to other players. The Privacy page explains account data, browser storage and public game information.

Premium plans

Premium adds interface themes, unlimited random play, the full available Daily archive and higher limits for saved games, rooms and collections. It remains subject to the service’s technical capacity and fair-play rules.

The base prices are €4.99 per month or €39.99 per year, renewed automatically until cancelled. Stripe shows the final amount, currency, taxes if applicable and renewal terms before you confirm. Where checkout offers a localized currency, review that offer before proceeding.

Eligible first-time annual subscribers can receive a 10-day free trial. A payment method is required. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, Stripe charges the annual subscription when the trial ends and then on its renewal schedule. The exact trial end and first payment date are shown at checkout. The monthly plan does not include this annual trial.

Premium starts only after the subscription is confirmed. Opening a checkout or returning to YearLens does not by itself establish a paid subscription. Failed or incomplete payments can prevent or suspend access.

Managing or cancelling a subscription

Use Manage subscription from your YearLens Premium account to open Stripe’s billing portal. You can review subscription details, payment methods and cancellation options there.

During a free trial, cancellation ends trial access immediately and prevents the first annual charge when completed before the trial deadline. For an active paid period, cancelling renewal keeps access until that paid period ends. The billing portal shows the applicable date and status.

Cancellation does not delete your YearLens account or saved history. When Premium ends, free limits apply again and Premium themes and features are no longer available. Contact [email protected] about a billing issue or refund request. Rights to cancellation, withdrawal or refunds required by applicable law remain unchanged.

Premium through Krillion

An eligible Krillion paid membership can provide YearLens Premium at no extra charge. Link it using the same confirmed email on both services after a recent YearLens sign-in. A Krillion identity can be linked to one YearLens account at a time.

The benefit lasts while Krillion confirms eligible access. It ends if eligibility ends or you unlink it. Linking or unlinking does not modify or cancel the Krillion subscription.

A paid YearLens subscription or checkout in progress can block linking to prevent conflicting billing. Manage or finish those billing changes first. Linking a benefit is not a request to cancel an existing subscription.

Photographs, maps and corrections

Photographs and map data have their own sources and rights. Credits and available licence information are on the photo credits page and the map attribution. Playing the game does not grant permission to reuse a third party’s photograph or other protected material.

Historical dates and locations can be approximate or disputed. The game uses its saved reference answers for scoring. We may correct descriptions, reference answers or selections for future play. Send a correction with the photograph’s credit or game details to [email protected].

Availability and changes

We work to keep YearLens available, but maintenance, provider outages or technical errors can interrupt play. Features, the photograph bank and free allowances can change. A material change to a paid plan or its renewal price will be communicated before it applies to a future renewal.
